This is an invitation to help build a movement. To take one day and use it to stop the climate crisis. 350 is the last number you need to know, and the most important. It’s the safety zone for planet earth. 350 parts per million is what many scientists, climate experts and progressive national governments are now saying is the safe upper limit for CO2 in our atmosphere.
In December of 2009 in Copenhagen, Denmark, delegates, businesses, and non-governmental organizations, from every nation will meet to finalize a new global climate change agreement.
EVENT in PHILLY: Six weeks before this crucial event, on October 24th, the International Day of Climate Action, we will meet at Independence Mall at 1pm to make the 350 message heard. We will hear inspiring messages of local and global sustainability from Katherine Gajewski, Director of the Philadelphia Mayor’s Office of Sustainability, and our keynote speaker, Ray Anderson, radical industrialist and environmental heavyweight. This will be followed by a group formation of a “human graphic” of the numerals 3-5-0. Photographs of our graphic and similar images from all over the world will be used to flood the media and make sure that our decision makers hear the 350 message in advance of the Copenhagen climate conference!
The more people we have involved, the larger and stronger our message will be. Together, we can show our world and its decision makers just how big, beautiful, and unified our movement really is.
